This USB 3 interface coupled with the addition of USB 3.0 to the Raspberry Pi 4 makes this adapter especially useful for server and file storage applications with the new Raspberry Pi.

The adapter is SATA III (6 Gbps) and below compliant and USB 3.0 and below compliant. Simply plug your Hard Drive into the SATA connector and then plug the adapter into an available USB 3 port on the Pi – with Raspbian Buster, the drive will simply appear just as if you plugged in any old USB flash drive!

External power is not required with this adapter – because this device only supplies 5VDC, it is not compatible with the larger 3.5″ hard drives.
