Description

A PIR motion sensor is a type of motion sensor that passively monitors infrared light in its field of view. When the sensor sees a change in the level of infrared light, it interprets this as motion. These sensors are commonly found in in a variety of common products – from Alarm Systems and Outdoor Security Lighting to those fancy Room Occupancy Sensing Light Switches.

The detection range and delay time are both adjustable on this motion sensor (using trim potentiometers on the back of the PCB). The maximum detection range can be set between 3 meters and 7 meters while the delay time can be set between 5 seconds and 200 seconds. The sensor’s field of view is ~140 degrees. The sensor element measures 22.6mm in diameter and 10mm in depth, with the total dimensions of the sensor and PCB measuring: 24 x 32.5 x 24mm .

Input voltage is wide ranging – it will take anywhere between 4.5 an 20VDC while the output is both 3.3V and 5V logic save. When motion is detected, it will pull the output pin high.
