Three hands-on programs. Every session runs at our bench, on real equipment, with real faults. No slides, no textbooks β just the work. Each level earns a permanent component and tool discount here at Midland. If you can fix it, that's the certification.
The Foundation course is not a lecture β it's a real repair session. You sit at the bench, we walk you through exactly what's wrong, why it's wrong, and how to fix it. Component identification, multimeter use, safe soldering, reading a basic schematic β all taught in context of a device you actually care about. The cost is the same as bringing it in for repair, because that's exactly what's happening.
Surface-mount soldering, hot air rework, oscilloscope use, datasheet interpretation, power supply diagnosis, capacitor failure modes, audio circuit fundamentals. Three structured workshop sessions with real components and real broken devices. You'll work through actual repair scenarios, not simulations. By the end you'll know how to approach a fault you've never seen before β because you'll understand what you're looking at.
Circuit design from scratch, KiCad PCB layout, component selection, microcontroller basics, firmware fundamentals, and circuit bending. Multiple workshop sessions covering the full arc from problem statement to manufactured PCB. You'll leave with a real board you designed yourself, soldered yourself, and tested yourself. Not a kit β yours from start to finish.
If you've been fixing boards professionally or seriously for years β bring in something you've built or repaired. We'll have a look, ask a few questions, and get you set up with the Advanced discount. No sessions required. Pricing discussed on contact.
Get in Touch βBest free electronics reference on the internet. Components, theory, schematics, soldering β all written clearly.
Practical, photographed soldering guide. Through-hole and SMD. From the people who built the repair movement.
Γyvind Nydal Dahl writes about electronics more clearly than almost anyone. Start with the soldering and KiCad guides.
Our friend Pat's KiCad course. Real-world workflow, no filler. If you're heading into PCB design, start here.
The original circuit bending community. Direct, experience-based. Running since 2001.
Documented bend projects with photographs. Yamaha VSS-30, PSS-270, Furby, Casio β real component-level guides.
Tell us which level, what device you're bringing (if Foundation), and a bit about your current skill level.
Usually within one business day. Sessions run MondayβFriday at the workshop.
Bench time is real. Bring the device, bring questions. Leave with the repair done and the knowledge to back it up.
Your account is updated same day. The percentage is permanent. Certificate printed and signed before you leave.
