Description
Solenoids are basically electromagnets: they are made of a coil of copper wire with an armature (a slug of metal) in the middle. When the coil is energized, the slug is pulled into the center of the coil.
This solenoid is fairly small, with a 30.5mm long body and a ‘captive’ armature with a return spring. This solenoid is rated for 12-24V but we would recommend only momentary operation at higher voltages due to the heat generated. Ideally, around 15V is best – providing a good combination of strength without too much heat. When voltage is applied the solenoid moves and when voltage is removed the solenoid springs back to its original position. There are two M3 mounting holes on the chassis of the solenoid making mounting easy!
