Description
Contactless temperature sensors, also known as non-contact or infrared (IR) temperature sensors, are found in a number of different devices. These are excellent for monitoring temperature in any scenario where direct contact with the object is impractical, dangerous, or could affect the measurement accuracy. Since all objects emit infrared light as a function of their temperature, the sensor simply detects this light and converts it to a temperature reading. The GY-906 module is based on a MLX90614ESF non-contact IR temperature sensor and features all of the necessary components for it to operate. The sensor reads between -70° and 380° degrees with an accuracy of up to 0.5° and resolution of 0.02°. Data is output via I2C or PWM .
