Description
High powered heating elements are great for applications where fine thermal control is needed. These can be attached to metal head spreaders or heat sinks and are ideal for heating enclosures in adverse conditions or for preventing condensation or snow accumulation on camera enclosures. Their relatively high power and instant heat generation make them great for fine temperature control; however, we don’t recommend using this type of high powered heating pad in wearable applications as they can quickly reach temperatures capable of causing burns at full power.
The pad operates at 12V peak, drawing ~8.4A, and getting quite toasty almost instantly. At 100w, these throw a lot of heat and will require a substantial power supply or power source. Most applications will also need some sort of driver circuit, this could be as simple as a high powered MOSFET connected to a PWM signal source or even a DC Motor speed controller. Alternatively, lower voltages can be used to reduce the heat output and the power consumption.
Please Note: Be sure to use the appropriate power requirements when operating this heating pad. Failure to due so may result in burns to bare skin. Due to this we do not recommend this product for beginners.
