Description
This optical air quality sensor is designed to sense the contents of the air. Inside the housing, an infrared LED and a phototransistor are diagonally arranged into this device, to allow it to detect the reflected light of particles in the air. It is especially effective in detecting very fine particles like cigarette smoke, and is commonly used in air purifiers and other air monitoring systems.
The sensor operates on 5-7VDC and outputs a 0-5V analog voltage proportional to the measured dust in the air with a sensitivity of 0.5V per 0.1mg/m3. Operational current is typically 10 – 12mA, with a maximum of 20mA, making this a very low current consumption device!
Since this dust sensor has a very small 1.5mm pitch connector, a harness is provided along with a recommended resistor and capacitor. Pinout is as follows:
- Blue: LED Power (Connect to 5-7V with included 150 ohm resistor)
- Green: LED Ground
- White: LED Trigger (Digital Input)
- Yellow: Signal Ground
- Black: Sensor Reading (Analog Ouput)
- Red: VCC (Connect to 5-7VDC)
