When a transistor isn’t powerful enough for your project a Darlington transistor may be a better solution. These work great for controlling motors, solenoids, and high power LEDs.
These specific TIP120s can handle a peak current of 8A and can switch voltages of up to 60V DC. The 8A rating is dependent on heat dissipation so the higher the voltage, the lower the maximum current will be. A TO220 Heatsink can be attached to improve heat dissipation.
