16×2 character displays are excellent for displaying text and numerical values. These displays work really well with just about any microcontroller or single board computer. The screen features two lines of text, with 16 characters per line. The display has a blue backlight and white text. Contrast is adjustable with an external 10k potentiometer – sold separately.

Normally these are connected using 6 digital I/O pins, however for those looking to avoid using 6 digital pins, we carry an excellent Character Backpack by Adafruit Industries that allows a character display to operate over I2C or SPI!
